Enter your price and your costs. This calculator itemises every Etsy fee on the sale — listing, transaction, payment processing, regulatory and Offsite Ads — and shows the profit you actually keep.
| Fee breakdown | Amount |

Set the profit you want to walk away with per sale. Using the same costs and fee settings as the calculator above, we'll solve for the item price that gets you there.
Tip: price for the Offsite Ads case if most of your traffic comes from Google or social ads — a price that only works on organic sales quietly loses money on ad sales.
Eight fees can touch a sale. Three apply to almost every order; the other five depend on your country, your currency, and where the buyer found you.
| Fee | Rate | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Listing fee | $0.20 USD per listing | Charged when you publish or renew a listing. Listings last 4 months; if a multi-quantity listing sells another unit, that's another $0.20 per unit sold. |
| Transaction fee | 6.5% | On the full amount the buyer pays for the order: item price plus the shipping you charge, plus gift wrap. Not charged on sales tax Etsy collects. |
| Payment processing | US 3% + $0.25 · UK 4% + £0.20 · EU 4% + €0.30 · CA 3% + $0.25 · AU 3% + $0.25 | Etsy Payments' cut for handling the card payment, calculated on the order total. The flat part is why very cheap items lose a disproportionate slice. |
| Regulatory operating fee | UK 0.48% · EU ~0.47% · varies | Only in certain countries (UK, much of the EU, Canada and others). Charged on the order total, like the transaction fee. Etsy raised it in several European markets in June 2026 — check your statement if old maths no longer adds up. |
| Offsite Ads fee | 15% or 12%, capped at $100/order | Only when a buyer clicks an Etsy-placed ad on Google, Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest and buys within 30 days. 15% under $10k in trailing-12-month sales (optional); 12% at $10k+ (mandatory). |
| Currency conversion | 2.5% | When your listing currency differs from your payment-account currency. List in the currency of your bank account and this fee disappears. |
| VAT on fees | e.g. 20% in the UK | UK & EU sellers who aren't VAT-registered pay VAT on top of Etsy's own fees (listing, transaction, processing…). Registering for VAT and adding your number to Etsy removes it. |
| Etsy Ads (on-site) | Your daily budget, cost-per-click | Optional promoted listings inside Etsy search. You set the budget, so it's a marketing cost you control — not a percentage fee. |
Also on the price tag: a one-time shop set-up fee when you open a new shop, and optional extras like Etsy Plus ($10/month) and Pattern (about $15/month). Rates summarised from Etsy's published fees and seller guides — see the fee reference at Checkout Page and Revenue Geeks' verified breakdown, and always confirm against Etsy's own Fees & Payments Policy before a big pricing decision.
Most sellers who lose money on Etsy aren't bad at maths — they're missing one of these.
The 6.5% transaction fee and the payment processing fee both apply to the shipping you charge the buyer, not just the item price. Offering “free shipping” and folding postage into the price doesn't dodge this — the fees follow the money either way. What changes is your own shipping cost, so compare both setups in the calculator.
Payment processing has a fixed part: $0.25 in the US, £0.20 in the UK. On a $40 item that's a rounding error. On a $4 sticker it's over 6% before any percentage fee lands — one reason very low-priced listings struggle to stay profitable. Bundles and multi-packs spread the flat fee across more revenue.
An attributed Offsite Ads order carries a 12–15% fee on the whole order total. If your margin is 20%, a single ad sale leaves you almost nothing — and you may not notice, because the fee shows up on the order, not in your ad dashboard. Run your best-sellers through the calculator with the ad toggle on before you celebrate a sales spike.
List 10 mugs on one listing and sell them one by one, and you'll pay $0.20 ten times — once for the original listing and again as each additional unit “renews” it. Budget $0.20 of listing fee into every unit you sell, which is exactly what the quantity field above does.
For a US seller with no Offsite Ad and free-to-buyer shipping: $0.20 listing + $6.50 transaction + $3.25 processing = $9.95, an effective rate of 9.95% — not the 6.5% most people expect. Add an Offsite Ads attribution and the same sale loses another $12–$15 (capped at $100 per order). Try it above: set the price to 100 and shipping to 0.
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee, the payment processing fee, and (where it applies) the regulatory operating fee are all calculated on the order total, which includes the shipping you charge the buyer and any gift wrap. They are not charged on sales tax that Etsy itself collects and remits.
Only while your shop has made under $10,000 in the previous 365 days — then participation is optional and the fee is 15%. Once you pass $10,000, participation becomes mandatory and the fee drops to 12%. Either way, the fee only applies to orders attributed to an offsite ad, and it's capped at $100 per order no matter how large the sale.
No. The $0.20 is charged when the listing goes live (or renews) and isn't refunded if you remove the listing early, it expires unsold, or an order is cancelled. Draft listings carefully and batch-publish when they're ready.
Yes — listing, transaction and processing fees all apply to digital downloads exactly as they do to physical items. Digital sellers simply skip the shipping side: no shipping charges for fees to attach to, and no label costs, which is why digital margins are usually much healthier at the same price.
Usually one of three things: a regulatory operating fee for your country (raised in parts of Europe in June 2026), VAT added on top of Etsy's fees if you're UK/EU-based and not VAT-registered, or an Offsite Ads fee on an order you didn't realise was ad-attributed. All three are options in the calculator — switch them on and adjust the rates under “Adjust the fee rates” until your numbers line up.
This Etsy fee calculator answers one question: after Etsy takes its cut, how much of each sale do you actually keep? Enter your item price, what the buyer pays for shipping, and your own costs, and the calculator breaks down every fee Etsy charges — the $0.20 listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee, the payment processing fee (3% + $0.25 in the US), the regulatory operating fee where it applies, and the 12–15% Offsite Ads fee on ad-attributed orders. It also handles currency conversion and VAT on fees for sellers outside the US. The result is your true profit per sale and your margin, updated live as you type, with a visual split of costs, fees, and profit so you can see exactly where the money goes. Because fee rates change and differ by country, you can adjust every rate to match your own shop settings.
The breakdown shows more than a single profit number. The effective fee rate — the share of the order Etsy keeps in total — tells you at a glance whether a listing is healthy; many sellers are surprised to learn a $100 US sale loses about $9.95 to fees (9.95%), not just the 6.5% transaction fee. The reverse pricing tool works the other way round: set the profit you want to clear per sale and it solves for the item price that gets you there, with an option to price for the Offsite Ads case so ad sales don’t wipe out your margin. If you also sell on Amazon, compare with the Amazon FBA calculator, which breaks down referral and fulfillment fees the same way.

Enter your item price, the shipping charged to the buyer, the quantity, and your costs. The calculator applies each Etsy fee — listing, transaction, payment processing, regulatory, Offsite Ads, currency conversion, and VAT on fees — using rates you can adjust to match your country and shop settings, then subtracts your costs to show profit per sale and margin, all updated live as you type.
Yes. Country presets set the payment processing, regulatory, and listing fees for common seller locations, and the rate fields are fully editable, so you can match Etsy’s current published fees for your market. Fee rates change over time, so it is worth re-checking them against Etsy’s own Fees & Payments Policy before making major pricing decisions.
Use the reverse pricing tool below the calculator and set the Offsite Ads option to the rate that applies to your shop — 15% under $10,000 in trailing-twelve-month sales, 12% above it. It solves for the item price that clears your target profit even when the sale comes through an offsite ad, which matters if most of your traffic arrives from Google or social ads.
Yes — the quantity field accounts for selling several units of one listing. Etsy’s $0.20 listing fee applies per unit sold when a multi-quantity listing renews after each sale, and the calculator includes that in the fee total, so selling ten mugs from one listing does not look cheaper than it really is.
